Single: You Don’t Own Me by Muddibrooke

The latest release is a cover to the Lesley Gore’s 1964 iconic “You Don't Own Me”. Now, to me covers need to be unique and surprising, I am thinking of Disturbed’s version of Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘The Sound of Silence’ or Linkin Park’s version of Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’. So an alt-rock / grunge version intrigued me enormously. Derby alt-rockers Muddibrooke’s version is, er, funnily enough unlike the original in every possible way, but I totally get the bands twist on the track. Why would you all be all sweetness and light when you just want to make it more edgier, more heartfelt, more angry - very much the end product. And it doesn’t in anyway devalue or ruin the original version. MI
