Fans of 90s RnB are in for a real treat from Melis, previously a contestant on Norways’s X factor (yes we are back on tour again) and provided the voices for amongst other Sally in Disney’s car and more importantly (in my eyes at least) Smurfs: The Lost Village (boom there we have it!) Her latest release is Last Night, and it’s a corker. There is more than a hint of Beyoncé - if you like that sort of thing (what has she ever done? Oh, sold 118m records worldwide) - and add a dash of Beverley Knight, taking you right back to the early 00’s now. It’s a stunningly beautiful track with more than a hint of sexy vibes, let me use Melis’ own words to describe Last night. ‘Hooking up with someone I finally got the feelings i've been yearning for the last couple of years, I wanted to describe that feeling. The song wrote it self because the feeling was so intense.' There. It takes me back instantly to a time when, one I had more hair, but more importantly back on a nostalgia trip. Go Melis! MI
